Transport Management System
A transport management system built around the trip
Gonyeti manages every load from quotation to invoice: the customer and rate, the horse, trailers and driver, the route and border, the fuel and expenses, and the profit the trip actually made.
What is a transport management system?
A transport management system (TMS) is software that plans, executes and accounts for the movement of goods. For a trucking company, that means capturing each load as a trip, assigning a vehicle and driver, tracking the trip through to delivery, recording what it cost and invoicing the customer.
Gonyeti's TMS is connected to its fleet management and workshop modules, so the trucks, drivers, fuel and repairs behind each trip are the same records the rest of the business uses. Read the complete TMS guide for background.
The problem
Where transport operations lose control
Most transporters can tell you how many loads they moved last month. Far fewer can say, with confidence, which of those loads made money.
Trips live in spreadsheets
Each controller keeps their own sheet. Rates, trailers and drivers are retyped, and versions drift apart.
Costs arrive after the fact
Fuel slips, allowances and border costs reach the office days later, if at all, and are rarely matched to the trip that incurred them.
Invoicing lags delivery
Without a clear signal that a trip is delivered and complete, invoices go out late, and some never go out.
Shortages are argued, not measured
Loaded and offloaded quantities are on different documents, so losses against the allowable tolerance are hard to prove.
Subcontractors muddy the picture
When some loads go on your own trucks and some on hired transporters, margin per load becomes very hard to see.
No single view of the fleet
Management cannot see what is loading, in transit, at a border or offloading without phoning around.
How Gonyeti solves it
Every load becomes a trip with a cost and a margin
In Gonyeti, a trip holds the customer, consignee, cargo, loading and offloading points, route, horse, trailers and driver. Freight is calculated from the customer rate (flat, by weight, by distance or by weight and distance) and, for subcontracted loads, the transporter rate is held alongside it.
As the trip progresses, fuel orders, trip expenses, allowances and documents are attached to it. When it closes, Gonyeti has turnover, cost of sales and gross profit for that load, and the trip is ready to invoice.
- Trip authorisation before trucks are dispatched
- Trip statuses with dates, from loading to offloaded
- Customer and transporter rates on the same trip
- Allowable loss by weight, litres or quantity
- Invoices generated from completed trips

Learn moreCapabilities
Transport management capabilities
- Trip capture
- Trip number, reference and manifest number, customer, consignee, cargo, weight, quantity or litres, loading and offloading points.
- Freight calculation
- Flat rate, rate per tonne, rate per kilometre or rate per tonne-kilometre, with litres-at-ambient for liquid loads.
- Customer and transporter rates
- Run your own fleet and hired transporters on one system, with separate rates and cost of sales per trip.
- Authorisation
- Trips can require approval before dispatch, with the approver and reason recorded.
- Trip status tracking
- Status changes with dates and descriptions, giving a live picture of what is loading, in transit and offloaded.
- Shortages and losses
- Offloaded quantity compared with loaded quantity and the allowable loss for the cargo.
- Empty runs
- Empty legs recorded with origin, destination, distance and fuel, so positioning costs are not hidden.
- Breakdowns on trips
- Breakdowns logged against the trip, horse and driver, with location, and linked into the workshop.
- Multi-currency
- Rates, expenses and invoices in their transaction currency, with exchange rates captured.
Typical workflow
How a load moves through Gonyeti
-
01
Quote and confirm
A quotation or rate card sets the customer rate for the route and cargo.
-
02
Create and authorise the trip
The controller assigns horse, trailers and driver; the trip is approved for dispatch.
-
03
Fuel and expenses
Fuel orders, allowances and route expenses are booked against the trip.
-
04
Track to delivery
Status updates (and tracking positions where integrated) follow the trip to offloading.
-
05
Close and invoice
Offloaded quantities are captured, profit is calculated and the trip is invoiced.
Why it matters
Why a TMS pays for itself in a transport company
Margin per load, not per month
See which customers, routes and trucks make money while there is still time to act.
Faster invoicing
Completed trips are invoiced from the trip record, with the rate and quantities already captured.
Fewer disputes
Loaded and offloaded quantities, documents and statuses are on one record when a customer queries a shortage.
One version of the truth
Operations, workshop and finance work from the same trips instead of reconciling separate spreadsheets.
